For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. – John 3:16

“LOVE”

When I signed up to do this devotion, I had no idea what I was going to write about. However, when I picked Feb. 14th, I knew why I picked that date. It is because today would have been my 14th Wedding Anniversary and I knew I wanted this to be about “Love”.

I was still trying to figure out what verse to write about, when the other day I was in my dining room and looked up and there it was right in front of me. A beautiful wall decoration that was always in my Mother and Dad’s home and now that they have past it is in my home.

This wall decoration is a picture of the praying hands, one single candle lit and this verse on the page of a bible. “The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, goodness and faith and the greatest of these is LOVE.”

I started to really evaluate how fortunate I have been all my life experiencing so many different kinds of love. The love of my husband, parents, brothers, son, stepdaughter, son-in-law and I can’t forget my dog. Then with all the friends I have made over the years from school, work, church, clients, my hair dresser and other organizations that I belong to, made me realize how God has truly blessed me with his love.

One of the most memorable times that I experienced God’s love recently was during the “Lay Witness Mission”. God was with us every step of the way and the friendships and love that was experienced that weekend by so many will never be forgotten.

With this being Valentine’s Day, I know a lot of your thoughts will be about flowers, candy, jewelry, cards, dining out, etc. for the ones that you love. We also need to remember, first and foremost, that today is also the first Sunday of Lent.

We need to reflect on God’s love in John 3:16. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Wanted to share this verse below, it is full of love – Enjoy!

Always pray to have eyes that see the best in people,
A heart that forgives the worst,
A mind that forgets the bad,
And a soul that never loses faith in God.
