“2My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” – John 14:2-3

Last Easter was the first time I was not in church Easter morning; it was the first day of the rest of my life without my earthly father. Daddy went home to be with the Lord, peacefully early that morning.

I had spent part of the evening before with Mom by his side holding his hand singing our favorite hymns knowing his time left on earth was dwindling down. The empty ache in my heart had begun.

Watching my father through his last days was very painful. I can only imagine Mary’s agony of seeing her son suffer and die on the cross for our sins. But I rejoice in this resurrection and God’s promise. (John 3:16) “For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Knowing this and that we will meet again brings comfort and helps to mend the heart.

(Ecclesiastes 3:1)” There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven…”
