Flood/Cleaning Buckets
September used to begin what we called “disaster season” here at Mission Central. We prepared all year gathering Flood/Cleaning Bucket supplies, making the buckets, verifying buckets, then wrapping them and shelving them so they were ready for when disaster struck.
Times have changed. Now, we must be prepared to deploy Flood/Cleaning Buckets at any point as we work to respond to natural disasters. These buckets are often the first thing those impacted by storms have and they enable those impacted by floods, hurricanes, tornadoes and more to begin the overwhelming job of cleaning up.
Last year, Mission Central provided over $732,000 worth of buckets to those impacted by disaster. That is almost 10,000 buckets! All buckets go out domestically and stay in the United States.
A few notes:
  • Sponges are no longer in the buckets. The only sponges that prevent mildew are the non-cellulose sponges which are difficult to find.
  • Personal notes, money or additional materials should not be included in the buckets.
  • Everything must be new with the exception of the bucket. (The bucket can be used but must be clean.)
  • Nothing in the bucket should have cartoon characters, advertisements, religious, patriotic or military symbols.
  • Please include $3 for each bucket so that it can get to the appropriate location. Checks should be made out to Mission Central, Inc.
Right now, we are pretty flush with buckets; however, that may change as weather impacts. Please continue to check back to see what we are in need of here at Mission Central.

Warehouse/Donation Door Assistance Needed
We are in need of volunteers to fill the following time spots to run our back donation door:
  • Mondays from 12-3
  • Some intermittent Wednesdays all day
  • Fridays (starting in September) from 9-12
We also need someone for warehouse work on Thursdays.
These can be weekly positions or something less regular. For details, please email missioncentral@missioncentral.org. Thanks for considering!

We are flush with purses and bedside commodes right now, but we are in need of school supplies.

This event is a fundraiser for Mission Central and will be held at Buhrig’s Gathering Place. Tickets are $40 and all proceeds benefit Mission Central’s operating costs.
